Challenges
It is difficult for schools to find teachers who are qualified enough, because of the language policy in Dire Dawa. Teachers are also paid very little ($15/month), and it is hard for them to engage students in large classes, where they could be teaching up to 70 students at a time.
Solution
We want to implement digital infrastructure, where there is 1 TV per classroom displaying lessons, and then activities led by the teacher to keep the students engaged. Digital learning is already used at the high school level in Dire Dawa, and has had many benefits. It will allow for better education in all the languages spoken in the country.
